Datadog: 2020 - Present
Group Manager, Video Production
At Datadog I manage the “Video Production” team, which means that anything that is shot and edited is managed and/or executed in some way by my team. We also have a “Motion Design” team at Datadog that have projects they do end-to-end without any interaction with my team, and there are also projects where we collaborate very closely. I often jokingly tell people that we work on the the Product Marketing team, Employer Brand Marketing team, Field Marketing, Partner Marketing team, Demand Generation team, the Advocacy Team, the Events Team (both sponsored and internal) and many more… Which, really we do. We need to partner with all of these teams, understand what their goals are, how they work, and how we can help them achieve their objectives with our expertise in video. Our team is highly regarded at Datadog, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built and the folks on my team.
A day in my life at Datadog often involves:
Lots of meetings:
Various team meetings to check in on status of projects, and team management needs
1-1’s to check in with each report, provide project guidance, remove blockers and also discuss work-life balance
Intake meetings to discuss taking on new projects
Pre-production meetings to prepare for upcoming productions
Brainstorming, live work sessions and more
Management tasks:
Delegating projects, and providing instruction
Reviewing work, providing feedback, answering questions and helping to advance projects
Documentation, roadmapping, and helping to maintain an orderly productive work environment for the team
Production tasks:
Where needed, and as time allows, I always continue to enjoy helping out on shoots and post-production projects as I see fit, but as my team grows I’m finding it increasingly difficult to find bandwidth to do IC work.

Summary coming soon…
Behrmann Thomsen (BT Studio): 2015 - 2020
Director / Owner
I was a founding partner of Behrmann Thomsen in 2015. For 5 years I worked side-by-side with Doug Thomsen executing small to mid-sized productions for a variety of cliental within this business exclusively. Whether we had work or not, we worked 9 hours a day, 5 days a week, either in service of our clients or in pursuit of new paying work. We tried to do as much as possible by ourselves, but obviously we often had to hire for production and post-production support regularly.
Below are some selects of my work within Behrmann Thomsen:
Evuntu (Freelance): 2011 - 2015
Before I even graduated from my film program at the California College of the Arts (CCA) I was already getting work from CCA as a freelancer, so I just stuck with it. During this time I worked in many different capacities. As a video editor, a cinematographer, a PA, etc.. Notably, one of my primary sources of income during this time was building out video coursework for Ramit Sethi. Together with a small informal group of friends from college, and under Chris Whitmore’s leadership, we built out robust gated video courses focusing on how to improve life in career, financial, and personal wellbeing categories. While this helped me keep my skills sharp, my focus was always on getting more interesting project work, and trying to build something more meaningful. If you really need to know though, much of what I did for Ramit was either like this, this, or this. I most certainly lit and filmed these videos, but it’s impossible to remember what I edited.
That said, below are some examples of my work direct-to-client work that I did end-to-end as a freelancer:
